With age, almost all people gain at least a few extra pounds. In most, bidding in old age is genetic. The main reason for this is the hormonal changes taking place in the body, especially in women aged 40-45 years. Therefore, even at this age the problem of overweight occurs more often.

Recent research shows that one of the reasons for weight gain is a change in taste buds. These changes cause a stronger, and sometimes even irresistible craving for sweet foods.

Woman's Day magazine cites a study showing that after menopause, 45% of women consciously consume more sweets and sugary foods than before. Only 15-20% of women continue to limit themselves and follow their previous diet.

The period of menopause is characterized by a decrease in the body's ability to produce hormones. There are changes in the figure - fat accumulates in the thighs, abdomen, lower face.

Hormonal changes actively affect the redistribution and increase of subcutaneous fat. This increase is necessary for the body, because when reducing the production of sex hormones (estrogen), this function is performed by adipose tissue - a process that is of particular importance.

Drastic diets and starvation in order to avoid excess weight can lead to a decrease in estrogen in the blood. Hormonal imbalance can cause menopausal symptoms such as weight gain, insomnia, fluctuations in body temperature, skin condition, etc. to worsen.

The process of growth of fatty cellulose after 40-45 years of age is carried out not only in obese women, but also in thinner ones. It is believed that the former more easily tolerate changes in menopause, because they do not manifest themselves so outwardly: the color of the face does not change, wrinkles are not noticeable.

Experts do not recommend women after 45 years of fasting and low-calorie diets, as well as strenuous exercise. It is best to eat them carefully to avoid the problem of rapid weight gain. Diet could have a better effect after menopause.

It should also be remembered that during this period changes occur in the metabolic processes of the body. Calcium is intensively excreted from the body, which leads to weakening of bone tissue and as a consequence can occur osteoporosis or various diseases of the spine. By following a diet, the body will suffer from an additional lack of calcium.

Nutritionists warn that foods rich in cholesterol are extremely harmful during this period, as it increases the risk of the formation of atherosclerotic plaques on the walls of blood vessels. After the onset of menstrual changes, the risk of stroke and heart attack increases 2-3 times.

Experts advise people aged 40 to 50 to be especially careful with the application of different diets. They need to reconsider their lifestyle and make it more active, but without overload.
