Combined in one meal, these foods are digested slowly and carry weight in the stomach.
Digestive problems are already so common that they are almost considered normal. Of course, wrong. The most common cause of slow metabolism is the wrong combination of foods in one meal.
Due to lack of time or carelessness, we often eat foods at the same time, the combination of which requires more time for these foods to be successfully processed in the stomach and intestines. As a result, complaints such as heaviness and discomfort in the stomach, bloating and others appear . For successful prevention of metabolic problems, it is good to adhere to some basic recommendations, excluding the combination of certain foods in one menu.
Combinations of foods that slow down the metabolism when consumed simultaneously
This is the combination that most inhibits the digestive processes. The intake of animal proteins and foods rich in carbohydrates in one meal requires the simultaneous secretion of different types of enzymes that can mutually neutralize their activity. Thus, the simultaneous consumption of these foods usually leads to a feeling of heaviness, because they stay longer along the digestive tract, some of them ferment and release additional gases.
Carbohydrates are the only type of nutrients that are not recommended to be taken with fruit at the same time. The reason is the fact that fruits are rich in simple sugars, which are broken down and absorbed very quickly and saturate the blood with glucose . Thus, the body practically does not need an additional source of energy and the remaining carbohydrates are transformed into fat for fat depots or stay longer in the intestinal tract, creating discomfort, increased gas formation in the intestines.
The main sources of protein in our menu are animal or plant products. And while combining two different types of protein in one diet is not a problem, nutritionists advise not to combine two plant or two animal sources of protein at the same time . This means that meat and legumes, for example, can be eaten in one meal, but not meat with dairy products or legumes with rice or nuts.
An additional mistake in combining foods, which can slow down the metabolism, is the intake of large amounts of fluids during meals. The reason for this is the possible dilution of digestive juices and the deactivation of enzymes in the stomach and intestines. This will make the body keep the food longer in an attempt to process and assimilate it fully, and this will cause the corresponding feelings of stomach discomfort.
