There is hardly a person who has not had to take antibiotics for one reason or another. We all know that these drugs are often prescribed and we encounter them from an early age. Whether this is urgent and justified in individual cases is another topic that we will not raise now, because our goal is to talk about nutrition during treatment with antibiotics , as their action is significantly influenced by our menu. This should not despair you, just look on the bright side - you have a reason to indulge in various delicacies that you probably rarely afford.
If our body needs about 2 liters of fluid under normal conditions while taking antibiotics, the amount should be increased to 3-3.5 liters per day. Of course, you should not drink anything you come across, but focus on fruit juices, lemon tea and liquids containing vitamin C in its composition, because natural ascorbic acid helps the body fight infections. It can be obtained through almost all freshly squeezed fruit juices, the excellent ones being: orange and apple, followed by strawberry and peach juice.
As for carbonated and alcoholic beverages, they should be completely excluded from use during treatment.
The immune system needs to be "fed" with protein - this is an occasion for you to eat more seafood and various fish dishes. A portion of 250 grams is enough to get the necessary protein.
Not to mention the meat. Here we will say that fatty and fatty variants are harmful in general, and during treatment with antibiotics you should not consume them at all. On the other hand, it is good to include beef, rabbit and chicken fillets in your menu. The daily amount should be equal to about 200 grams.
Let's go back to fruits and vegetables. You should eat at least 600 grams a day of them while you are being treated with antibiotics. If you do not have this opportunity, eat at least one lemon a day. Feel free to add sour citrus to tea, soups. If it is not among your favorites, replace it with oranges (at least 4-5 every day for the duration of treatment).
Vitamins and plant cellulose, which are contained in sufficient quantities in bananas, apples, citrus fruits and various berries, will help maintain the body's natural microflora. Probiotics are also desirable. As a result of their use, the metabolism is normalized, the blood is purified and the work of the intestines is restored.
There is a large amount of cellulose in wholemeal bread, cabbage, pumpkin, zucchini, beans, bran and whole grains. So don't forget to include cereals and stewed or steamed vegetables in your menu. To make it tastier, you can add to them nuts, dried fruits, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla.
Try to eat as many green leafy vegetables as possible, as well as soups and broths that will saturate the body with antioxidants and nutrients.
Sauerkraut is very useful, which helps to restore the intestinal microflora. Also eat zinc-rich pumpkin seeds, because zinc increases the body's resistance to viral and bacterial infections.
For food so much. Now let's see how things are with their ways of preparation. In the first place is the processing of steam, followed by cooking and stewing. The meat can be baked, but only in the oven (in no case in the microwave). Are you wondering where the fried is? You will have to forget about it during treatment with antibiotics.
How the antibiotics themselves should be taken is a separate issue. It is good to swallow them with half or a glass of boiled warm water to avoid irritation of the mucous membranes. There are exceptions, of course, and these are sulfonamide drugs, which are preferred to be taken with alkaline mineral water. Tea and coffee are not suitable for this purpose, as they contain many tannins and binders that reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics. These drinks are good to drink an hour after taking the drug.
Pay attention to the leaflets for the medicines. They indicate the incompatibility of the preparation with certain food products. For example, if tetracycline is prescribed, it should not be taken with milk and dairy products.
Some antibiotics are not good to ingest with citrus fruits, as there are modern preparations that break down in an acidic environment.
