In this article, learn more about Foods For Faster Metabolism. Does Ginger Affect Cholesterol?.

The knowledge that a balanced varied diet is among the most important elements of a healthy lifestyle is not always enough to predispose to proper nutrition. For those in need of extra boost, there are groups of foods that stimulate metabolism and encourage the body to burn calories faster.

Spicy foods such as garlic , mustard seeds or mustard , cumin and hot red peppers speed up the metabolism and increase digestion. A 2012 study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research  concluded that sulfur compounds in garlic extracts have a strong anti-obesity effect - they lower body fat , lower blood triglycerides and normalize blood sugar.if necessary. Prolonged and controlled intake of garlic severely limits the accumulation of lipids from the liver, as well as inhibits enzymes that promote fat production.

Turmeric is another plant that contributes to a fast metabolism. According to a study in the January issue of the journal Biofactors , the herb contains a known active ingredient - curcumin , which is known for its ability to inhibit the development of adipose cells that make up adipose tissue. Curcumin also has an antioxidant effect expressed in the protection of the cardiovascular system. Curcumin itself causes positive stress in the cells of some tissues, stimulating them to burn more fat.

Heating spices ginger and cinnamon also promote more energy expenditure by cells. Cinnamon also has a regulating effect on carbohydrate metabolism , suppresses the production and deposition of fat energy reserves and slows down digestion , which leads to satiety with smaller portions of food.

Another January 2013 study, published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences , found that consuming about 5% of the total weight of food consumed for the day resulted in a significant reduction in body weight and blood cholesterol . Not only that - it manages to increase the levels of high-density lipoprotein - the " good " HDL cholesterol.
