Stomach acids are painful and unpleasant, they are often caused by certain foods

Stomach acid is a burning sensation in the upper abdomen, behind the sternum. They occur as a result of the return of gastric hydrochloric acid to the esophagus, so-called reflux, or the return of gastric contents. Acids cause unpleasant sensations and worsen digestion. Some foods and beverages exacerbate the problem. Here they are.

 

Citrus fruits . If you feel even a slight discomfort or pain high in the stomach, most often after eating, then you should remove citrus fruits from your menu. They increase the acidity in the stomach and worsen the symptoms. For this, avoid oranges, grapes, lemons, grapefruit, kiwi, etc.

 

Chocolate . A favorite delicacy of many, which, unfortunately, has a negative effect on the stomach and very often causes heartburn. After consuming chocolate, it is possible for stomach contents to enter the esophagus and cause burning. It may seem difficult, if not impossible, to eliminate chocolate from your daily routine, but you will certainly need to if your symptoms worsen.

 

Spicy food . Spicy food causes heartburn in an indirect way. Capsaicin, which is contained in hot peppers, slows down the digestive process. Poor digestion is another cause of heartburn.

 

Fatty foods . These foods are not good for overall health. Daily consumption of fatty foods can disrupt normal digestion and lead to heartburn. Try to reduce fat in your diet and include more healthy fats.

 

Alcohol. Daily consumption of alcohol can have a number of harmful effects on the body, including the appearance of heartburn. Drinks such as beer and wine greatly increase the acidity in the stomach, leading to severe discomfort and pain behind the sternum.

 

To prevent heartburn it is necessary to follow certain rules:

  • Do not overeat. Eat more often during the day with smaller portions;
  • Avoid fried and fatty foods;
  • Move after each meal;
  • Have dinner at least 2 hours before bedtime;
  • Bet on more healthy foods;
  • If you are a smoker, try to quit smoking;
  • Get enough sleep and reduce stress as much as possible.
