Many people, feeling unwell due to a cold or flu , are persuaded to eat, believing that it will help to cope with the illness. Choosing the right foods can be of great benefit and even speed healing.

Here are some products that boost immunity and help us feel better in cold weather.

Yoghurt

Yogurt contains a healthy dose of "good bacteria" that protect the body from harmful bacteria and infections. These "good bacteria" are called probiotics, and research has shown that yogurts rich in them improve immunity by increasing red blood cells in the body (leukocytes).

Turmeric

Turmeric can be found in any yellow curry, and its golden color is due to the content of curcumin - a polyphenol with strong properties in the fight against cold and  flu , has anti-inflammatory action.

Garlic

Many of the immunostimulatory properties of garlic are due to sulfur-containing compounds, in particular allicin. These compounds are effective against bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal infections. They strengthen the immune system, have antitumor and antioxidant properties.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene and nutrients, with which the body is supplied with vitamin A. This vitamin, in turn, helps proteins to regulate the connection between cells, which is the basis of the immune system. It also prevents the development of cancer because the disruption of cellular communication is one of the main reasons for its occurrence.

Ginger

Ginger contains gingerol, which belongs to the capsaicin family - a substance that gives the chili peppers a pungent taste. Dried ginger has less gingerol. The plant has a beneficial effect on nausea and vomiting.

Oysters

Oysters are considered an aphrodisiac, probably due to the high content of zinc in their composition, which is necessary for the production of testosterone. The element protects the body very well from cold and flu; improves the function of T cells, which play an important role in the detection of foreign antigens and in the readiness of other cells of the immune system. Even a small zinc deficiency in the body can lead to adverse effects on immunity.

Broccoli

Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E (and cheap). They contain a large amount of glucosinolates, which stimulate the human immune system.

Broccoli is a doubly useful food due to the high concentration of sulforans in them, which are strong anti-cancer substances.
