Stomach cancer is one of the most common cancers. Nutrition is extremely important in such a health problem. The different conditions of the patient require the consumption and, accordingly, the exclusion of certain foods. Today we will talk about these forbidden and allowed foods in case the whole organ is removed due to stomach cancer.

After such surgery it is necessary for the patient to adhere to a separate diet, in which he eats often (5-6 times a day) and takes small portions. You should not eat more than 2 meals and 1 glass of fluids at once. Dilute the milk with water. Limit the intake of carbohydrates (pasta, potatoes, cakes, pies, candies, chocolate, sugar, etc.).

During the first two months after the operation, use a minimum amount of salt.

Ready meals to be taken hot, hot or cold are not preferable.

All food should be soft or well crushed, ground.

Absolutely forbidden food products:

  • black bread;
  • white flour pastries;
  • confectionery (chocolate, cocoa, honey, jam, candies, cakes, pies, etc.);
  • sweet drinks;
  • soda;
  • undigested milk;
  • animal fats (bacon, breadcrumbs, butter, high-fat cream, etc.);
  • fatty fish and meat (pork, duck, lamb, salmon, sturgeon, herring, etc.);
  • by-products (liver, kidneys, lungs);

Diet, which is applied after removal of the stomach consists of several stages. During the first 1 - 2 weeks after the operation it is necessary to strictly adhere to the "crushed" postoperative diet, followed by 2 - 4 months of the crushed diet, and 6 months after the operation - the uncooked diet №1, which limits chemical irritants of the digestive tract.

If digestive functions are restored successfully, a year after gastrectomy can be switched to a normal diet. Then you can afford warmer and colder foods, but the restrictions on the amount taken remain. You have to put up with the ban on eating sweet, pasta and fatty foods.

Immediately after the operation, the menu consists of mineral water, slightly sweetened sour and weak tea. After 2-3 days, introduce rosehip decoction, vegetable cream soup, ground liquid porridge of rice or buckwheat, prepared with water, steamed cottage cheese souffle. On the 8th - 9th day after the operation, mashed potatoes, steamed meat and fish meatballs are included.

At 2 - 4 months after the operation the patient switches to a strict diet, which reduces the inflammatory process and stimulates the restoration of the normal structure of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract after the removal of the organ.

All dishes are steamed or boiled, then mashed, pureed or ground to a pulp. In this way you can make vegetable cream soups with cereal broth, lean broths, chicken, lean beef, fish (cut into small pieces). Soft-boiled eggs and steamed omelets are allowed. Milk and cream should be added to ready meals as a supplement or spice. You can eat cooked vegetables - cauliflower, zucchini, squash, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, beets and others.

From cereals to prepare liquid ground porridge with water. Oil and butter should be added as a spice to ready meals.

The bread should not be fresh, but slightly dried wholemeal or bran. But bread and kefir are included in the menu at the earliest a month after surgery.

As for the fruits, they must be processed, prepared in the form of mousses, pickles and others. Fresh juices can be drunk, except for grape.

At 8 - 10 months you can now switch to dishes that are not crushed. This feeding should continue until the age of one year after the operation.

All restrictions remain, the difference is that the food can now be prepared not only by steaming, but also by stewing and baking. It can also be consumed in moderately warm and moderately cold condition. Low-fat meat soups are allowed, the bread is still old - rye, wheat or rye-wheat. Low-fat biscuits are also allowed (for example, oatmeal), lean meat and fish dishes. Vegetables can now be eaten not only cooked but also raw, roasted or stewed. During this period, fresh leafy vegetables and tomatoes seasoned with vegetable oil are allowed.

If intolerance to milk and kefir is not observed, they can be included in the menu.

Porridges, puddings, casseroles are prepared from cereals. Appetizers that are allowed are: boiled sausages, soft and skimmed cheeses, lean ham, fresh fruit and berries.

The diet should be followed throughout life, it is necessary to keep limited amounts of food per serving, as well as recommendations for sweets, fatty and pasta.
