How Easy And Free To Decorate The Table For The Celebration

We create a spectacular table for a birthday, christening and new year, using a "home" improvised arsenal.

We create a spectacular table for a birthday, christening and new year, using a "home" improvised arsenal.

Tablecloth and napkins

Let's start with the tablecloth. Solid white, navy blue, beige or pastel colors are a great start. A simple drawing doesn't hurt either. You can refresh the tablecloth with cloth napkins or a track that can be sewn or cut out of soft wrapping paper. Such paper is sold in office supply stores. It is good to play with contrasts: white dishes - a dark or bright napkin / tablecloth. And vice versa.

Tissue paper is good because you can cut out napkins of various shapes from it - clouds, a steam locomotive, stars, etc. This will help you out in case of a themed party. For example, a children's birthday, the theme of which is airplanes. We dress the culprit in a cap, hang paper airplanes and cotton clouds on the walls, cut out napkins in the form of clouds, and set toy airplanes on the table as decorations. An ordinary fan will help to strengthen the theme, on the protective mesh of which we tie colored ribbons.

Central composition

We arrange plates and cutlery along the edge of the table or, in the case of the Swedish reception, from one edge. Leave the center of the table for the main composition-decoration. And dishes with food will occupy the middle space between the plates and our decoration. If your table is in the shape of a long rectangle, it is appropriate to make two compositions.

Variations with glasses and candles. We install thick cylindrical candles on inverted glasses. You can use glasses or glasses of different heights and shapes. Depending on the holiday, we place rain, moss, cones, chestnuts, a spruce branch, stones, small Christmas balls or beads in a cup of an inverted glass. The theme can be continued by decorating napkins with a cone or shell.

Flat sea stones can be used not only as decorations for a "sea" party, but also as name cards. You will need ordinary colored crayons. And you can also paint such stones in the continuation of the evening if you want to keep the children busy and are not afraid to get dirty.

Children's wooden cubes can become a beautiful and useful accent of the table. At first, it may be a turret in the center of the table, next to which there are felt-tip pens in a glass. Tell the guests that they can sign the cubes - write wishes or a message to the birthday man, which you will save and give when he finishes school / college, etc.

From an ordinary paper napkin, you get a beautiful bow if you tie the middle with a ribbon. Such a bow can be tied to cutlery. Continuing the theme, you can put a tray or a transparent salad bowl on the table with such bows made of plain paper of your favorite color. First, on each sheet, write an interesting thought, statement or task for the game. Invite guests to pull out their bow.

Books. In the center of the table, you can lay out books with a stepped bridge - your favorite ones or on a specific topic. Some pages can be scanned and printed, then using such a sheet with an excerpt as a napkin under a plate. When everyone is sated, you can tell fortunes. We take a book from the table, ask a question, randomly name the page number, line and word. Perhaps, so, playfully, the urgent issue will be resolved.

Kids toys. Here the limit of your imagination is limited only by the "arsenal" of your child's toys. Cars, animals, soft toys or a designer - everything will work and is suitable not only for a children's holiday. Plush quadrupeds can decorate the table for the New Year of the Dog or Rabbit. The train looks great in the center of the table, and separate trailers installed near the plates can “carry” name cards.

Souvenirs. This goodness in the form of figurines often just collects dust somewhere on a shelf. Well, it's time to pull out the overseas figurines, put them in the center of the table on a paper map of the world or a map of some region where you like to relax, and throughout the evening tell funny, exciting, favorite travel stories. As a pedestal, a cake stand on a leg, as well as a shelf for fruits and sweets, is also suitable.

Plants and fruits. Live garden flowers, tree branches, ears of wheat or a Christmas tree paw are a great accent of the celebration. Cut plants can be placed in vases, jars, bottles, small glass aquariums or glasses. Just flower heads look beautiful in glasses. In vases or candy bowls, you can place rowan, basil, seasonal fruits - apples and citrus fruits always look spectacular.

Gifts for guests

If you want to please the guests and thank them for participating in the holiday, prepare small gifts. You can decorate the table with them, placing them near each plate, or hand them at the end of the celebration. Figurines, toys, books used for decoration can serve this purpose. They can be signed or decorated with a label with the name of the guest to whom the gift is intended.

A gift can be an apple decorated with a bow, a small jar of honey, or other homemade goodies. Canned cucumbers, for example. You can pour mint, lemon balm, and other spices you have dried into linen bags. It's always nice to receive gifts, especially when you don't expect it.

Holiday Dishes That Never Let You Down

PS

English porcelain, paper-thin crystal and orchids falling from the ceiling - cool, of course. But our sideboards usually contain a grandmother's service (in a small rosette) and a set of crystal, which, even if it falls on a tile, will remain intact. The hand does not rise to throw away. Do not need! Let's use the things around us in a new way and be proud of them!
