Required products :

  • 3/4 cup soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla - liquid
  • ground nuts
  • sugar glaze on request

Method of preparation :

Beat the butter with the sugar until medium with an electric mixer until you get a creamy mixture. Add the eggs one by one, stirring well after each one.

Sift the flour and leavening agents through a sieve into a large bowl, then add to the butter in portions, alternating flour and buttermilk - start and end with flour. Finally add the vanilla.

Spread and sprinkle with flour medium-sized rectangular pan (about 30 by 20 centimeters). Pour the dough into it and cover it with foil. Leave between 8 and 24 hours in the refrigerator.

When it's time to bake, remove the cake for 30 minutes at room temperature.

During this time, turn on the oven to preheat to 175 degrees.

Grind nuts of your choice and mix them with cinnamon. Sprinkle the cake with them and bake for 30-35 minutes until dry.

Finally, make a mesh of sugar glaze with bourbon, if desired (mix powdered sugar with the desired alcohol and stir until the desired consistency).
