Duner is a very good choice for food on the go. It is eaten quickly, and supplements can be very complete, so as to combat the notoriety of doner as a harmful food. Here is our doner recipe - with pork and sweet potatoes.

Required products :

  • 2 small red onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 tea cup of wine vinegar
  • 2 sweet potatoes, cut into thin sticks
  • 3 teaspoons dried mint
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano
  • finely grated rind of 1 lemon
  • 3 crushed garlic cloves
  • 100 milliliters of olive oil
  • 750 grams of pork (shoulder)
  • a handful of parsley and mint leaves
  • 3 small tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon yogurt
  • 2 loaves of bread for the doner

Method of preparation :

Pour onion with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and let stand.

Boil the sweet potatoes until ready, drain and set aside.

To make the marinade, combine the dried spices with the lemon peel, garlic, remaining vinegar and 1/4 cup olive oil, season with salt and pepper.

Cut the meat into sticks, pour 2/3 of the marinade to taste.

Fry them in a hot pan for 6-8 minutes, until done. Cover with foil to keep them warm.

Put the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the pan and fry the sweet potatoes in it for 4-5 minutes, until they get a light tan and caramelize. Pour the remaining marinade and cook for 3 minutes.

Mix parsley, mint, tomatoes with onions.

Assemble the doner by placing all the products in the loaves and wrap.
