The well-known Czech beer is known to all of us or at least to most of us. What few are familiar with are the appetizers, or in other words, the appetizers that come with it. That is why we decided to present you a selection of popular Czech appetizers , which you will surely find in the menu of most local restaurants and other establishments.

 

Grilled sausages

You will find this dish more often in outdoor restaurants than in restaurants. It is borrowed from the Czech neighbors - the Germans and quickly became a favorite appetizer to beer, especially in fast food restaurants, various festivals, fairs and other outdoor events.

Sausages are very different: beef, pork, lamb and poultry. They are traditionally served with mustard, horseradish and black bread.

 

Toasted devil's sandwich

Under this name is a toasted slice rubbed with garlic, on which is placed a spicy meat mixture sprinkled with grated cheese. Recipes for preparing the meat mixture are different in different places, but most often it is minced beef or chicken, tomato sauce, vegetables and chili peppers.

 

Marinated hermelin

Ermine is a type of soft cheese, similar to Camembert. It is an extremely suitable addition to beer. Cut into two parts, fill with spices and marinate in oil with onions, pepper and other additives. The variety of recipes for preparing this appetizer is huge, but most often it will be served with a spicy pepper paste in the middle in a plate with onions, hot red peppers and black bread.

 

Roast

Roast is an appetizer of marinated fish. All kinds can be used, but the most common are carp, herring and mackerel. The fish is sealed in jars with saline solution, spices and vegetables, and before that it is fried, rolled in flour. Here the imagination and taste preferences of the cook are important. The classic option is for the marinade to be made of vinegar, onion, carrot, black pepper, bay leaf and cloves. In this way, the Czechs prepare not only fish but also other products, for example: mushrooms, vegetables or meat. The dish is also available in canned form.

 

Sandwich paste with greaves

In Czech cuisine, there are often a variety of pastes used to make sandwiches, but the options with greaves are the most offered in restaurants and pubs. Their base is made of ground greaves, boiled egg, onion, black pepper, mustard are added to them. Marinated cucumbers or peppers are sometimes used in recipes. The pasta is served with fresh black bread.
