This home-made fragrant Creole spice kajun is named after the French-Canadian settlers inhabiting Louisiana (USA). It is great for seasoning rice, meat, soups and stews or anything that needs to enhance the taste. You can also prepare it, close it in a jar and give it to your loved one with a suitable recipe.

Required products :

  • 1 teaspoon ground dried basil
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground dry oregano
  • 2 teaspoons ground dry garlic (garlic powder, granulated)
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons ground red pepper

Method of preparation :

Crush all spices that are not powdered in a mortar. You can grind with the help of a blender if it is more convenient and easy for you. And it is best to rub with your hands, because this way the aroma will be more saturated. It is preferable to use coarse salt - it will serve as an abrasive when grinding between the palms.

After preparing all the spices, mix them and sift through a fine sieve.

The Creole spice is ready. Store in a tightly closed glass jar.

Tips :

Store the spicy spice from India in the dark, away from heat.

Optionally, you can add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika and 3 tablespoons of celery salt / or herbal salt / to enhance the aroma and taste of the spice.

With the Creole spice you can marinate meat, fish and vegetable dishes for grilling, baking or otherwise prepared. Use to flavor sandwiches, potatoes, dressings, sauces, dips or side dishes.
