Required products :

  • 250 grams of white flour
  • 250 grams of wholemeal flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet of dry yeast (7 grams)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped olives
  • 20 grams of hard yellow cheese
  • 3 teaspoons Italian spice mix
  • corn flour for sprinkling

Method of preparation :

Mix the flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a bowl. Make a well in the center and pour 300 milliliters of slightly warm water and fat (olive oil) into it. Stir with a spoon to combine. If you find the mixture very dry, add a little water so that you can form the dough into a ball. Add the tomatoes, olives, 10 grams of cheese and 2 tablespoons of the Italian spice mix.

Transfer the dough to a well-floured kitchen counter and knead for 10-12 minutes to distribute the filling evenly.

Sprinkle generously on the kitchen counter with cornflour and roll out the dough to 30 cm square. Cut in the middle of two rectangles, which cut into strips 1 cm wide. Slightly twist the strips and distribute them on 2 greased pans. Cover them with plastic wrap and let them rest for 15-20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees with the fan on.

Remove the foil and sprinkle the saltines with the remaining cheese and spice. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the salts are crispy. Store in a closed container for up to 3 days at room temperature or in a freezer for up to 3 months.
