Required products :

  • 3/4 cup soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 3/4 teaspoon molasses
  • 4 teaspoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons ginger powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method of preparation :

Beat the butter and sugar to get a creamy texture. Add the egg and molasses. Combine flour, ginger, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and cloves. Carefully transfer to the creamy mixture and knead. Cover and store for 4 hours in the refrigerator or overnight.

Preheat oven to 170 degrees.

Sprinkle a plate with flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 0.7 centimeters. Cut out shapes as desired and transfer them to baking paper lined in a tray.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges start to turn slightly pink.

Allow them to cool completely, then decorate as desired with icing or chocolate.
