Required products :

1 kg of beef

3 medium onions

6 - 8 bay leaves

15 grains of black pepper

1 teaspoon dry red wine

salt to taste

oil

Method of preparation :

Cut the onion into semicircles, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat and fry the onion until soft and until it acquires a yellowish tinge. Remove from the heat.

Wash the meat with cold water and cut it into pieces, which you knock on both sides. Then fry in oil for about 1 minute on each side.

Put the meat in a saucepan, arranging it in layers, add salt to taste, add black peppercorns, bay leaves and pour the stewed onions. Repeat the arrangement. Finally, pour the wine (or a glass of water), close the container with a lid. When the water boils, reduce the heat to a minimum and let the meat simmer over low heat until soft (the time depends on the type and quality of the meat).

 

Mashed potatoes and buckwheat porridge are an ideal side dish for this dish.
