Necessary products

For candied oranges:

2 oranges

350 grams of sugar

400 milliliters of water

About the cake:

150 grams of flour

1/2 teaspoon leavening agent

150 grams of ground almonds or walnuts

2.5 tablespoons poppy seeds

3 eggs

170 grams of sugar

For the orange cream:

4 eggs

juice and grated peel of 1 orange and 1 lemon

100 grams of sugar

100 grams of butter

Method of preparation :

Cut the oranges (not too thin) without peeling the peels, put them in a saucepan with 400 milliliters of water in which you have dissolved the sugar. Stir, close the pan with a lid and let cook on the stove for 20 minutes until the crusts soften (check with a sharp knife). When removed from the heat, allow the citrus to cool.

Line a baking sheet with a diameter of 20 - 22 centimeters.

Arrange the most beautiful pieces of orange on the bottom.

Drain the syrup from the remaining fruit. Beat 80 milliliters of it with 100 grams of oranges until smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, almonds or walnuts, poppy seeds.

Beat the eggs with the sugar for 5-7 minutes, then add the orange puree and mix thoroughly with a spatula, trying not to blow air out of the dough.

Mix the dry ingredients with the fluffy orange mass and pour everything into the prepared form. Bake the marshmallows until golden (about 45-50 minutes). Check readiness with a toothpick.

When removed from the oven, allow to cool in the pan.

Turn the cooled tray.

Make a cream. Beat the eggs with the lemon and orange juice (a total of about 150 milliliters), add the sugar, butter and grated citrus peel. Place the pan on a steam bath and simmer, stirring until thickened (up to 30 minutes).

Cut the marsh into three thinner ones. With the orange syrup, syrup the marshmallows, which will be the base of the cake and the one in the middle.

If the candied oranges are large, you can chop finely and add to the cream. Assemble the cake, arranging the tops on top of each other and spreading the orange cream between them.

The loaf with the candied slices should remain on top.

Decorate as desired and refrigerate for a few hours.

Have fun!
