Learn how to cook "What we need to know when choosing fruits and vegetables". Delicious recipe.
Today, no one is impressed by the huge variety of fruits and vegetables in stores and markets. Bananas are no longer the exotic they used to be, and oranges and grapefruits are often easier to find than apples. The imported products are like from a beauty contest - smooth, fresh, with saturated colors and considerable size. Only the taste of most of them is far from expected.
All this is due to the need to protect products from bacteria, fungi and other pests of fruits until they arrive from their homeland to us. For this purpose, they are treated with special food additives: preservatives, antioxidants, acidity regulators and others.
In addition, the fruit must be ripe, not overripe. Various substances that extend their shelf life are excellent at this task.
1. Try to buy the products typical for the season, it is good to have them from a region close to you. When delivered from nearby locations, they do not need to be further processed;
2. If you buy fruits and vegetables from the market, you can ask the seller to cut them in half. When evaluating the product, pay attention to its color, aroma and density;
3. Choose medium-sized fruits and vegetables, not very large ones;
4. Carefully inspect the appearance of the fruit: sticky, greasy and slippery skin are proof that the product has been processed;
5. Vegetables (onions, potatoes, radishes) are treated with additional chemicals. substances so as not to germinate. Therefore, when buying potatoes, especially when not in season, pay attention to the buds - if they are closed ("dead"), probably the vegetables are processed.
