Alcoholic drinks, especially high-grade ones, need to be able to be consumed in order to really feel the taste, and not just feel the blow of wine vapors to the head. Read on and we will tell you how to taste the maximum bouquet of spirits flavors, complementing them with some accents.
The imposed stereotype that whiskey is drunk from a faceted glass with a thick bottom and several ice cubes applies only to cheap specimens. Real whiskey has an amazing smell and color, which can only be appreciated thanks to a tulip-shaped glass. Its narrow neck concentrates the scent. It is permissible to add a few drops of ice water, but not ice, and rotate the glass. Then drink in small sips, holding the drink in your mouth.
In the West, this drink is consumed in this order: lick a pinch of salt from the back of the hand, drink a shot of tequila, eat a slice of lime.
The Mexicans themselves treat this ritual with laughter. They drink it in one gulp or with beer, or in the form of a Sangrita cocktail (tequila, tabasco, spices, tomato and lemon juices).
Drinking rum from the throat a whole bottle at a time is an exclusively pirate prerogative. The rest will have to follow other rules.
Light white rum is great for cocktails. Aged with a golden sheen should be served in tumbler glasses, it is possible with ice. For a snack, citruses, peaches, melon, and cherries are best suited to it.
Dark rum is drunk from glasses of thin glass so that it warms up a little from the warmth of the hands. It can be served with a cup of strong coffee or dark chocolate.
Sake is ideally served with Japanese cuisine or seafood. This drink is not very strong, approximately like a liquor, the smell from the habit may even seem too original, but the taste is rather mild.
The Japanese keep sake in ceramics, there is even a special tokkuri jug and small choko cups for it. There are two ways to drink sake: with an ice cube or, conversely, heated by a few degrees. According to the Japanese, both options have their advantages, but choko is always emptied in one sip.
It is much stronger than sake. It is customary to serve it chilled in stacks or small glasses with thick walls. One glass is drunk in one gulp and it is important to have a bite right away. Usually, fatty meat dishes or pickles (sauerkraut, pickles and tomatoes) are put on the table for this. For the body, an acceptable dose is two shots in one daily meal.
Favorite drink of the heroes of the works of E.M. Remarque in its homeland of Normandy is designed to improve digestion during hearty meals. Therefore, they drink Calvados from piles during breaks between meals and after dinner.
By itself, it is consumed from glasses with an extended neck in its pure form or with ice and tonic. Snacks for him in this case are not provided, except for cigars and soft Normandy cheeses.
The cult drink of the first impressionists is drunk in a special way:
pour 30 ml of absinthe into a glass, put a special spoon with holes or a dessert fork on the vessel, and a cube of sugar poured with absinthe on the spoon / fork and set it on fire. Use another spoon or fork to move the sugar around a bit so that it flows more quickly into the absinthe. It is allowed to dilute absinthe with water. The edges of a hot glass can be rubbed with a slice of lemon or orange.
