From your favorite dough for gingerbread and the most common protein glaze, you can build a wonderful house for the New Year - fragrant, elegant, delicious. It is better to paint and decorate the house with the whole family, but it is better to entrust the creation of the project to older children or parents. We tell you how to make a gingerbread house for the New Year.

Dough Ingredients:

460 g flour; 1/4 tsp baking powder for dough; 4 tbsp. l. sugar syrup (preferably maple syrup); 2 tbsp. l. molasses or liquid honey; 160 g brown sugar; 2 tsp. ground cinnamon and ground ginger; 200 g butter; orange peel.

Ingredients for glaze-"glue":

500 g of powdered sugar; 2 egg whites.

Preparing the dough for the gingerbread house. Place a small saucepan over low heat. Add syrup, molasses or honey, ground ginger and cinnamon, sugar, pour 4 tbsp. l. water. Stir with a wooden spoon and bring to a boil.

Remove the pan from the heat and add the chopped butter in pieces, leaving one piece for greasing the mold. Pour the zest of one orange, mix.

Then gradually add flour with baking powder. Knead the dough. The dough will be very sticky, so add more flour if needed. Wrap with cling film and send for half an hour in the refrigerator.

While the dough is cooling, let's "build" the house from the blueprint. On paper, draw the details of the house, only 7 parts:

2 rectangular walls, measuring 18 by 14 cm; 2 sides with a triangular roof: a rectangle 10 by 14 cm with a triangle roof 10-7-7 cm; 2 roof parts, measuring 7 by 18 cm; the base of the house is 20 by 16 cm (or more).

The most difficult moment is to make the side walls with a roof. To do this, first draw a rectangle on paper, measuring 10 by 14 cm. 10 cm is the width, 14 cm is the height. Then increase the height from the middle of the house by another 5 cm, draw a line. Connect the edges with a triangle, you're done! Cut out two of these pieces.

Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees.

Roll out the dough on a table sprinkled with flour, the thickness of the rolled out dough is 5 mm. Put the paper blanks on the dough and cut out the details of the house. Roll out any leftover dough for new parts.

After you cut out all the necessary details, cut through the windows and doors as well. Here, do as you wish. An important point: in two blanks for the roof (7 by 18 cm), make 2 holes at the corners from one edge of the wide side using a thick drinking tube. Leave a couple of centimeters from the edge.

Lay the house pieces on a greased baking sheet (remember we left a piece of butter?), leave a centimeter of space between them. Send to the oven for 12-15 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees, bake until they acquire a golden brown color.

While the walls and roof of the house are cooling on the board, prepare the glaze.

For the glaze, beat the whites to white peaks with the addition of powder. Powder is introduced in small portions.

Color the completely cooled parts of the gingerbread house with the prepared icing. You can add sweets, candied fruits, marmalade, dried cranberries. It is best to use a paint brush.

It remains to establish our house on the basis. Start assembling the house from the side walls, use glaze as "cement".

Tie two parts of the roof with holes with tape, as shown in the photo below.

Let the walls of the house "grab", and only then build a roof.

The frosting can be applied using a pastry bag or a regular bag with the corner cut off. By the way, you can not use the base for the house, but bake gingerbread cookies from the rest of the dough.

You can decorate a gingerbread house with colored sweets, candied fruits, dried fruits. Show your imagination!

You can eat the house, however, it is better to do this after the clock strikes 12 (or even after Christmas).

Happiness, comfort and delicious dishes to your home in the New Year!
