The peel of an orange is the top layer of the fruit, which contains a lot of essential oils. It is these essential oils that help us then flavor various dishes. No chemical flavor can compare to the flavor of live orange peel.

Remember, in order to properly peel, it is best to take fresh and elastic oranges, with a peel without black spots and other signs of illness. Before work, be sure to thoroughly wash the fruit with a sponge, and then rinse with boiling water or dip it in boiling water for a few seconds. This is necessary in order to remove the wax coating from the surface of the oranges, which is applied for better storage of the fruit.
So that the peeled orange peel does not taste bitter, be careful: remove only the top colored layer of the peel and do not touch the white layer. Depending on our goals, we can peel oranges with a grater with large or small holes, as well as with a paring knife.
Recipes with orange ingredient
Step 1
For work, we need oranges, a paring knife, a grater, a clean sponge, a bowl, a cutting board, parchment paper.
Step 2
Wash the oranges well with a clean kitchen sponge.
Step 3
Pour boiling water over them or place them in a bowl of hot water for 10-15 seconds.
Step 4
Rub the oranges dry and grate the top layer on a grater: this can be done on a grater with large holes.
Step 5
Or with medium holes.
Step 6
If you need to grate the zest on a grater with small holes, then attach a small piece of parchment paper to the grater before that, simply pressing it on top. Then grate the zest as usual.
Step 7
Remove the paper and use a knife to scrape off the zest. With this method, you will quickly get a small orange zest, and the grater will not be smeared.
Step 8
Also, in some cases, you can use a paring knife to remove thin strips of orange peel.
