Who doesn't like to enjoy still warm soft bread with a crispy crust. But, alas, it remains so for a very short time. After a few hours, the bread stabilizes, and after a couple of days it starts to get stale. To keep bread tasty and fresh for as long as possible, it is important to store it properly. We just want to tell you about a few secrets.

Room temperature

Bread feels most comfortable in a dry place at room temperature. It can be kept in a breadbasket, on a table or in a kitchen cabinet. A regular plastic bag is perfect for storage.

Up to two days, white yeast bread will remain fresh and soft. Unleavened bread can be stored for up to 5-6 days.

No refrigerator!

There is an opinion that it is best to store bread in the refrigerator, especially in the summer heat. But this is a myth that only harms the delicate texture of pastries. In the cold, bread not only deteriorates faster, but also turns into a stiff substance due to the crystallization of starch. So if you want to really keep it fresh, forget the fridge!

Better freeze

If you bought more bread than you plan to eat in the near future, a freezer is the best way out. You can store it in foil, plastic bag or cling film. Just wrap the bread and put it in the freezer.

If you've baked your own bread, it's important to let it cool completely before freezing! Otherwise, there is a chance to get soaked pulp after defrosting.

When you need it, take the bread out and unwrap it immediately so that the melting ice crystals don't make it too wet. Leave for 3 hours on the table, and you have fresh bread again.

It is very convenient to freeze bread in portions. Cut and send 2-4 slices into freezer bags. Try to remove as much air as possible! You can store such bread for up to 6 months, and defrost in small portions as needed.

A quick way to defrost bread is in the microwave. Simply wrap the slices in a paper towel or tissue paper and microwave for 30 seconds. The bread is not only fresh, but also soft and warm!

After freezing, the bread is no different from fresh. And if desired, before serving, it can be dried in a toaster or in a frying pan, for example.

The ability to properly store food is the key to success in the kitchen. Your bread will always be fresh and appetizing if you follow only 3 basic rules:

Store bread only at room temperature. Don't put it in the refrigerator. Surplus is best frozen immediately.
