How To Read Food Labels?

Careful reading of food and beverage labels is important to know if they are really healthy.

As healthy as we want to eat, sometimes a mission seems almost impossible.

We often think that we bought something healthy from the store, but it turns out that this is not the case. That is why it is very important to read the product labels carefully.

Here are some of the features to look out for:

Whole grains are not always whole grains

Unfortunately, whole grain labels often require a decoder. The strength of truly whole grains lies in the fact that they are made from whole grains, which hide all the natural fiber, vitamins, minerals and nutrients important to the body and giving it the necessary energy. Often, however, much of the product also contains refined grain. To avoid this, we need to look for ingredients described as "whole grains" at the top of the label in the list of ingredients.

We choose low-fat options made from artificial raw materials

Most people prefer foods that are lower in fat. And in general, it is healthier. Often, however, in order for a product to be low in fat, fat is replaced with a lot of added sugar or artificial ingredients. That is why it is important to read the label carefully here as well.

We eat sweetened yogurts

Consumption of dairy products (in moderation) is important for the body. They provide us with the proteins, vitamins and minerals we need. When it comes to yogurts, store-bought ones are usually filled with added sugar, butter and stabilizers to give it a milky texture. Therefore, the best option is to make your own yogurt, and for those who do not have the opportunity, it is good to choose milk with the simplest list of ingredients.

We are deluded that the "natural" juices from the store are useful

Apart from the fact that squeezed juice from a certain fruit is not as healthy as eating whole fruit, most "natural" juices in stores are not like that at all. There are many added flavors, colors, flavors. They also contain extra sugar and other sweeteners, such as fructose syrup, which is more harmful than sugar. This is only a small part of the "misleading" healthy foods and drinks in stores. The food industry is already so terrifying and confused that we must always be vigilant so as not to succumb to the cleverly designed temptations of "useful" products wrapped in artificial propaganda.
