Hyperthyroidism (or thyrotoxicosis) is a disease that develops as a result of increased production of thyroid hormones and hyperthyroidism.

Initially, hyperthyroidism begins with weight loss, so with the start of treatment and weight gain.

Diet in this health problem prevents weight gain and normalizes the patient's condition.

Basic dietary recommendations for hyperthyroidism

The menu should include natural fiber (1 - 2 tablespoons 1 to 3 times a day), while drinking plenty of water. Fiber will help cleanse the body and prevent increased appetite.

Food should consist of plant products that have minimal and even zero calories. Do not consume iodine-containing ones.

It is important to enrich your diet with fish and dairy products, as it is known that the thyroid gland produces thyrocalcitonin, which regulates the level of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Purpose of the diet in hyperthyroidism

It is designed to saturate the body with its useful elements, to strengthen the recovery processes of thyroid function and increases the body's defenses.

What should be the menu?

A menu with increased content of proteins, vitamins and minerals (especially iron and calcium) is recommended. Of all types of culinary processing of products, only frying is prohibited, the temperature of the dishes does not affect the disease.

Chemical composition of the menu:
  • 450 grams of carbohydrates;
  • 100 - 120 grams of protein, of which 55 - 60% to be animal;
  • 90 - 100 grams of fat, of which 20 - 25% vegetable.

Basic foods for hyperthyroidism:

  • lean species of poultry, meat, fish;
  • bakery products;
  • a variety of soups;
  • dairy products;
  • liver;
  • eggs;
  • vegetable fats and butter;
  • various cereals;
  • Pasta;
  • fruits and berries, vegetables;
  • sauces;
  • legumes (well cooked);
  • useful sweets and honey;
  • moderate use of spices;
  • tea, cocoa and coffee to be taken with milk;
  • natural juices;
  • rosehip decoction.

Exclude:

  • cooking fats;
  • fatty meats and poultry;
  • butter cream cakes;
  • alcoholic beverages.

About the menu

  • Breakfast: cabbage salad with sour cream and apples, omelet with grated yellow cheese / cheese, oatmeal made with milk, tea.
  • Breakfast: a piece of cheese, a toast and a glass of tomato juice.
  • Lunch: vegetable soup with meat broth, brown rice with boiled chicken breast and a glass of compote.
  • Afternoon snack: rosehip decoction with cookies.
  • Dinner: meatballs with carrot puree, cottage cheese casserole, tea.
  • Before bedtime: yogurt drink.
