The coffee diet encourages the consumption of at least 3 cups of coffee a day, limits harmful food and replaces one of the meals with smoothies.
High-quality coffee can add a lot of antioxidants to your daily diet, according to some studies. But is there a connection between coffee consumption and weight loss? Can we get rid of extra pounds with coffee?
According to a British study from 2019, coffee consumption stimulates fat burning. Experts are still debating whether it is worth paying attention to such a diet, especially the one recently created by Dr. Bob Arnott, as it is already combined with a limited diet.
There are many versions of coffee diets, some including a 10-hour regimen and others a 14-day regimen, but we will now look at the latest one, namely that of Dr. Bob Arnott, called "Diet for the Coffee Lover." .
In general, the diet recommends the consumption of black coffee along with a diet plan similar to many others - it focuses on whole foods, limits processed products, refined carbohydrates and calories in general.
According to Dr. Arno, it's not just about drinking coffee, it's about drinking a certain type of coffee. A study he and his team found that lightly roasted coffee beans have the highest content of beneficial polyphenols. Studies show that coffee polyphenols have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic and antihypertensive properties.
After testing thousands of varieties of coffee, Dr. Arnott concluded that some of the richest are grown in high-altitude volcanic soil such as Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia and Kenya.
Like other diets, this one promotes metabolism and fat burning, blocks calorie absorption, and also reduces appetite.
Dr. Arno's plan recommends a diet with black coffee without added cream or sugar. The day starts with a glass of liquid, after which you can drink as much as you want, but ideally you should drink at least 3 glasses of the drink with a high content of phenol.
In Arno's diet, one of the meals is replaced with smoothies (whose recipes are listed in his book), and the other two are low in fat and high in fiber.
It is recommended to consume about 1500 calories a day.
The most important thing is to consume certain smoothies once a day, and the rest of the time some of the following recommended foods:
Snacks:
Research shows that there are potential benefits to consuming coffee and it can actually lead to weight loss. The reason is that coffee stimulates the metabolism and increases the feeling of satiety.
In 1995, a study published in the Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism showed that caffeine was able to improve metabolism by an average of 7% within three hours of being consumed through the product. But the discouraging thing is that this study was conducted with too few people, namely 12 healthy men, which makes it unrepresentative to be convincing.
Some recent research, again unrepresentative, shows that coffee helps fight fat. However, scientists are still unsure whether caffeine or other ingredients in coffee contribute to this effect.
Coffee contains caffeine, which has been linked to appetite suppression and increased calorie burning. However, it is not known whether the possible weight loss is due to coffee. According to experts, there is no reliable evidence that increased consumption of coffee (caffeine) leads to significant weight loss.
Coffee contains antioxidants that have proven health benefits, so if you have a problem with caffeine, you can choose the decaffeinated option. The downside is that the coffee on the market is often processed with different chemicals, because only with high quality coffee in combination with a healthy diet, you can achieve the desired result.
We should not ignore the danger of excessive coffee drinking - it is associated with insomnia, nervousness, upset stomach, heart rate, high blood pressure, headaches, anxiety, agitation and others.
If you are taking medication, it is imperative that you consult a doctor before increasing your daily coffee intake.
If you are looking not only for an effect on weight, but also a health benefit from the diet, it is good to get organic coffee that has not been treated with chemicals. A potential negative effect is that high amounts of caffeine are dangerous to health and lead to serious consequences.
There is still no evidence that the success of this diet, as well as similar ones, is due to coffee, or is rather a consequence of reduced calorie intake and limiting harmful foods at the expense of healthy ones. A sensible option is to try to stick to a healthier diet without increasing your daily coffee intake.
