Strange as it may sound, kiwi peel contains useful substances that mimic the action of aspirin ...
Beneficial substances in kiwi prevent the formation of blood clots, say researchers from the University of Oslo.
Nutrients in the exotic fruit have the ability to dilate blood vessels, which allows normal blood flow. Consumption of only 2-3 kiwis a day can reduce the risk of blood clots and triglyceride levels , factors for the development of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Kiwi is also useful for the visual system. The content of lutein , a natural carotenoid , protects vision and helps absorb harmful ultraviolet light , preventing degeneration of the macula of the eye.
Unfortunately, scientists have not yet found the exact ingredient in kiwi that prevents blood clots, but they are convinced that it is found in its peel. In order not to lose some of its useful ingredients, doctors recommend that kiwi be consumed similarly to apples - with the peel.
