Myositis is an inflammation of the skeletal muscles. The different types of the disease are determined depending on the reasons for its development and the course itself.

Useful foods for myositis

There is no special diet in the presence of this health problem, but it is recommended to adhere to certain principles in nutrition. For example, you should use products high in vitamins, easily digestible proteins, and also drink plenty of fluids.

Healthy foods include:
  • Products with large amounts of vitamins A, E and C in their composition: tomatoes, sweet peppers, lettuce, kiwi, plums, oranges, lemons, sweet and sour apples, tangerines, vegetable oils. All of them contribute to the neutralization of harmful substances that are formed in the presence of inflammatory processes in the muscles.
  • Easily digestible proteins can be obtained through soy, minced beef, chicken, oysters, almonds .
  • Products with salicylates: carrots, beets, potatoes, herbal teas from raspberry leaves, marsh marigold , marsh quince, peony root. They are anti-inflammatory drugs because they contain substances similar to the action of aspirin.
  • Fish - boiled, stewed or steamed. It contains fats that reduce inflammatory processes in the muscles.
  • Products rich in calcium: cabbage, yogurt and dairy products, garlic, celery, parsley, gooseberries, blackcurrants, strawberries.
  • Foods high in magnesium: cereals and legumes, green leafy vegetables, nuts, raspberries, blackberries.
  • Sources of zinc: liver, cheese, egg yolks, pumpkin .
As for drinks, these should be:
  • weak and freshly brewed green tea (up to 800 milliliters);
  • rosehip decoction (up to 800 milliliters);
  • sour juices of cranberry and blueberry;
  • peach and pomegranate juice with lemon;
  • apple and dried fruit compote prepared on the basis of rosehip decoction (not less than 400 milliliters).

Dangerous and harmful foods in myositis:

  • alcoholic beverages;
  • spicy, salty and greasy dishes;
  • fatty meats.
