Endometriosis is a disease in women, which is characterized by the development of endometrial cells (uterine lining) in various tissues and organs.

The causes of the problem may be on the part of the immune and hormonal systems (excessive amounts of the female hormone estrogen and progesterone deficiency), which cause uncontrolled growth of the endometrium, its prolonged rejection with increased bleeding.

In the presence of the disease, it is important to adhere to a diet that is agreed in advance with a doctor so that the individual needs of the body can be taken into account.

Rational and proper nutrition has a beneficial effect on the immune system, contributes to the regulation of hormone levels. Eat at least 5 times a day, small portions and fluids - at least 1.5 liters.

Useful foods for endometriosis:

  • antioxidant products (fresh fruits and vegetables) - highly recommended for genital and extragenital forms of the disease;
  • natural fats with increased content of unsaturated acids (Omega-3): sardines, salmon, mackerel, linseed oil, nuts - are especially useful in menstrual bleeding, as they prevent the "transformation" of the uterus;
  • products rich in cellulose, which helps regulate estrogen levels (brown rice, carrots, beets, zucchini, apples );
  • products containing plant sterols in their composition, which in turn prevent excessive amounts of estrogen (celery, garlic, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, green peas);
  • broccoli and cauliflower, which contain elements that activate liver enzymes and effectively remove excess estrogen from the body;
  • lean poultry meat;
  • unpolished cereals (oats, buckwheat, rice, barley), wholemeal bread;
  • skimmed milk products, especially cottage cheese (do not overdo it);
  • foods that contain vitamin C: lemons, oranges rosehip decoction, strawberries, sweet red peppers.

Dangerous and harmful foods in endometriosis:

  • red meat (promotes the production of prostaglandins);
  • fried and spicy food;
  • high-fat cheeses;
  • cow butter ;
  • coffee, strong tea;
  • mayonnaise;
  • mucosal stimulants (for example, sweet carbonated beverages);
  • animal protein (dairy products, eggs and fish).
