What food should we eat if we have typhus, and which products should we deprive of our menu?
Typhoid is a group of infectious diseases accompanied by mental disorders due to high intoxication and fever.
There are three types of typhus - typhoid (caused by the bacterium Salmonella), spotted (the causative agent of rickettsia) and relapsing (caused by the bacterium spirochetes).
Nutrition in typhus is aimed primarily at strengthening the patient's immune system and eliminating intoxication of the body.
It is necessary to drink more fluids, the dishes should be liquid, in the form of porridge, to be nutritious, but not to burden the body, so that its forces can be spent on healing and not on processing what is consumed.
Typhoid patients should adhere to a curative diet №13.
Meat broths, vegetarian cereal soups, meat and fish souffles, also boiled fish, omelets, steamed meatballs, soft-boiled eggs, boiled vegetables and mashed potatoes, rice and semolina puddings, butter, sour milk products are allowed. (crushed cottage cheese, kefir, cream, milk), homemade jellies, fruit pickles, compotes and juices, tea, cocoa, rosehip decoction, wheat rusks.
If the patient's condition is severe, during the first 2 days it is necessary to take only liquid food. These can be broths, juices, decoctions, compotes and mucous porridges.
In the presence of intestinal bleeding in the first days after its establishment, cold drinks should be drunk in small sips (milk, decoctions and compotes are allowed). Take about 500-600 milliliters of fluid per day. You can then switch to mucous and sour porridges. On the fourth day, scalded vegetables, soft-boiled eggs and liquid porridge are included. After a week, the foods are introduced according to diet №13.
If the patient has diarrhea, for some time to exclude dairy products from the menu.
On the 6th day, if the typhus sufferer does not have a fever and chills, he can gradually start to switch to a normal diet. Cooked meat and bread should be introduced in small amounts and smoothly.
