Ten years ago, new, sweeter varieties were created, which contributes to the wider distribution of the fruit on the Western market. The cultivated varieties have an aroma similar to that of grapefruit, but without its bitter-bitter vein in taste. This is how pomelo earned its nickname "copper grapefruit".

Pomelo, unlike grapefruit and other citrus fruits, has no seeds, with some exceptions in different varieties. Its peel is bitter, but, unlike it, the fruit has a relatively sweet taste.

Citrus peel contains a high amount of bioflavonoids - natural immunostimulants. Studies show that the bioflavonoids in pomelo can rid the body of excess estrogen and help stop the spread of cancer cells in breast cancer patients.

Even during the bird flu epidemic, pomelo tea was recommended to counteract it. And for the New Year, the Chinese give the fruit as a symbol of prosperity and well-being.

In Thailand, pomelo is also valued and considered miraculous. Locals claim that if the fruit is consumed daily for 3 years, it has a beneficial effect in the treatment of asthma and tuberculosis. And the effect of following the same procedure within 5 years can destroy cancer cells. Thais are sure that those who consume the fruit in a year become better, more responsive and loving people.
