Nutritional properties and composition

In 1 tea cup (120 grams) raspberries contain:

  • 64 calories
  • 14.7 grams of carbohydrates
  • 8 grams of fiber
  • 1.5 grams of protein
  • 0.8 grams of fat
  • 54% of the daily requirement of vitamin C.
  • 41% of DN magnesium

Leaves, fruits and flowers are used in folk medicine. The fruits contain organic acids (citric, salicylic, tartaric, malic, etc.); pectin, coloring and nitrogenous substances; sugars (mainly fructose and glucose); tannins; cellulose; essential oils. Raspberry is one of the most antioxidant-rich plants. Due to the high amount of antioxidants, raspberries reduce oxidative stress, the culprit for many cell damage and inflammation. Regular consumption of delicious fruit can reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes .

Mentioning diabetes, it must be said that raspberries are one of the few fruits allowed in diabetes. They are low in carbohydrates and sugars, and even some studies say they improve insulin resistance and lower blood sugar. Thanks to the tannins in the composition, raspberries block alpha-amisilate (digestive enzyme needed to break down starch), thus reducing the number of carbohydrates absorbed after a meal. Forest fruit extracts, including raspberries, block growth and kill cancer cells, according to some studies. In studies with mice, there has been a significant improvement in the intake of raspberry extract, but studies in humans are yet to be confirmed.

Raspberries are used in periods of colds and respiratory diseases, influenza, radiculitis, fever, joint pain and neuralgia, increases appetite. The salicylic acid in the composition lowers fever without side effects. The fruits have antitoxic and blood-restoring properties, are recommended for problems of the gastrointestinal tract, kidney disease, atherosclerosis, hypertension, anemia. Women who eat raspberries have healthy and beautiful skin.

The leaves of the plant, which contain substances that stimulate the work of the stomach and uterine muscles, are also suitable for women's health. The fruit contains folic acid, which is extremely useful for those who want to get pregnant, as well as during pregnancy.

Both the fruit and the leaves have a diuretic effect, improve kidney function. Infusion of the leaves is used for diarrhea.

Due to the presence of honey in raspberries, it is recommended for those who suffer from nervous overload, as copper is an integral part of many antidepressants.

Contraindications:

The high content of purines in the fruit makes it unsuitable for people with kidney problems and gout, as well as in acute urolithiasis. Sufferers of gastritis, stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers should not consume raspberry liqueur and broths, but can afford raspberry juice or one diluted with water.

Raspberries are also used in cosmetics. Fresh fruits, raspberry leaves and flowers are usually used. The content of vitamins E, PP, A, B2 helps the skin to maintain its tone, prolongs its youth, makes the color even and the skin itself elastic. Raspberry masks moisturize, whiten and nourish the skin, make it fresh and clean.
