Scientists' attention is drawn primarily to the unusual combination of squalene, gamma-oryzanol, vitamin E and fatty acids. The combination makes rice bran an excellent antioxidant.

Gamma-oryzanol makes the product an exceptional means of protection against ultraviolet rays. This is due to the fact that the substance provokes the production of tyrosinase, which prevents the penetration of sunlight into the skin and the process of pigmentation. Therefore, the product is often used in the manufacture of sunscreens and other cosmetics. In addition, the hypoallergenic properties of the oil play a significant role.
Gamma-oryzanol is also the reason why rice bran oil has a positive effect on ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, signs of menopause and high cholesterol.
The properties of the product are largely determined by the content of a variety of fatty acids. About 1/4 of it is palmitic acid, which works well on the skin. The acid increases the ability of the epidermis to absorb all sorts of nutrients. In addition, it activates the synthesis of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, which leads to the fastest renewal of the skin, to its strengthening and rejuvenation.
The oleic acid in the oil is about 50%. It helps to activate lipid metabolism, retains moisture in the skin and restores the barrier functions of the epidermis. Oleic acid may increase the absorption of other substances by the skin.
The product also contains a large amount of linoleic acid, which is characterized by a wonderful anti-inflammatory effect, having a positive effect on certain skin problems. In addition, it helps to restore the barrier function of the epidermis, to activate lipid metabolism, to strengthen the structure of the epidermis, to retain skin moisture, to restore normal water balance in all layers of the epidermis and is an excellent UV filter.
Rice bran oil is often added to salads. It gives the dishes a pleasant spicy taste and aroma, is suitable for frying, and the fried meat and stewed vegetables in the fat acquire an unusual aroma.
In Asian countries, the product is often used for frying seafood. Compared to other natural oils, rice is more resistant to high temperatures, so it retains most of the nutrients in the processing of dishes.
