Sepsis (translated from Latin "rot") is an infectious disease that develops after the entry of bacteria, fungi or toxins into the blood. Its progression is due to the periodic or constant entry of microorganisms from the source of putrefaction into the blood.
Nutrition in sepsis should be balanced, to take products and meals that are easily digested and rich enough in vitamins. It is proper nutrition that determines the outcome of treatment. People suffering from sepsis should take at least 2500 kcal per day (for postpartum sepsis - at least 3000 kcal). Their menu should include complete carbohydrates and proteins. It is necessary to rinse the mouth after each meal.
Provide enough protein to your body by consuming cheese, cottage cheese, meat, poultry, most types of fish, nuts, beans, peas, chicken eggs, pasta, semolina, buckwheat, oats, millet.
The table should be vegetables (beets, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, sweet peppers, onions, celery, lettuce), fruits (apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, melons, watermelons, grapes, citrus fruits, strawberries). , raspberry, plum, pineapple, legumes (beans, peas), nuts and seeds (almonds, cashews, coconut, macadamia nuts, walnuts, pistachios; sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds); cereals (rice, buckwheat, oatmeal, muesli, bran) They all enrich the body with complex carbohydrates and give it energy and nutrients.
Bread and white flour pasta can be consumed in moderation because they are sources of simple carbohydrates and sugar.
In sepsis to eat: pine nuts, liver, chicken eggs, melted cheese, cottage cheese, goose meat, mushrooms (duck leg, mushrooms), some fish (eg, mackerel), rose hips, spinach. These foods are rich in vitamin B12, which is not only easily absorbed by the body, but also directly affects the growth and renewal of tissues, as well as the liver. It is this organ that suffers in the first place in the treatment of sepsis, as antibiotics are required. In addition, it should be known that in fever, the body is deficient in the vitamin.
Vitamin C is also of great importance in the treatment of sepsis, because it is an antioxidant, removes toxins and poisons from the body, protects it from infections.
Sufferers of sepsis need to drink plenty of fluids - 2-3 liters per day. These can be juices, mineral water, green tea. Although according to research conducted by Chinese scientists, the substances contained in green tea help fight sepsis, research and experiments in this area are not yet complete.
Some doctors advise to drink red wine because it is rich in nutrients and trace elements (zinc, chromium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, etc.). Wine also has a beneficial effect on the blood, increasing the number of erythrocytes, increasing the level of hemoglobin and removing radionuclides. It is also an antioxidant, but despite all the useful properties, the product should not be abused - 100 - 150 milliliters per day are sufficient.
Following the recommended foods for sepsis are: liver, seaweed, cheese, broccoli, spinach, carrots, pumpkin, apricots, egg yolks, fish oil, milk and cream. They are all a source of vitamin A. It not only boosts immunity but also protects the body from infections. It also increases leukocytes in the blood and is an antioxidant.
Vitamin B15 (pangamic acid) is found in the liver, wild rice, almonds, barley, buckwheat, beans, nuts, rice bran, melons, watermelons and sesame seeds. The substance has a positive effect on the liver, has anti-inflammatory and antitoxic properties, lowers blood cholesterol levels.
In sepsis it is good to consume the white skin of citrus fruits, raspberries, rose hips, blackberries, blackcurrants, cherries, grapes, cabbage, tomatoes, parsley, dill, green beans. They are all sources of vitamin P, which is an antioxidant, increases the body's resistance to infections and most importantly - contributes to the absorption of vitamin C.
In the presence of such an infection, smoked, marinated, spicy and salty products should not be abused. They are not only difficult to process by the body, but also have an adverse effect on metabolic processes.
You should not overdo it with the consumption of fatty meats, garlic, radishes, horseradish, mustard, strong coffee, as they are harmful to the liver. This organ is easily vulnerable during the treatment of sepsis. Coffee lovers should add milk to the drink to reduce its harmful effects. Fast food also does not benefit the body.
