Skim Milk Protects Against Hypertension

Consumption of dairy products has a beneficial effect on heart function and metabolism of IGF-1 hormone

Researchers at Harvard University found that people who drank more than half a liter of skim milk a day were at lower risk of developing hypertension.

In those who consumed skim milk or dairy products, the risk of heart dysfunction decreased by more than 10%.

Skimmed dairy products supply the body with nine nutrients, including vitamins A and D, protein, potassium and calcium.

The authors of the study studied the health status of 4374 people born in the 30s of last century. The volunteers were re-examined 65 years later.

Researchers have found that people who consumed a lot of high-calcium milk and dairy products as children had a significantly lower risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.

According to British experts, the increase reduces the risk of stroke in the elderly by as much as 60%.
It was also interesting to find that even high-fat dairy products, which are high in fat and cholesterol, do not increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The authors of the study claim that the consumption of dairy products has a beneficial effect on heart function and metabolism of IGF-1 hormone, which is of great importance for health. Studies show that in adults with high levels of IGF-1 hormone, the incidence of heart failure is significantly reduced. There is also a lower mortality from heart and cardiovascular diseases.

Experts remind that in order to provide the necessary amount of calcium, at least three servings of dairy products must be present in the daily menu of children.

It is advisable for parents to provide their children with a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables and dairy products, and low in salt and fat. The inclusion of dairy products in the child's diet should be done in early childhood.

It is recommended that older children and adults choose low-fat and non-fat dairy products.
