Pomegranate fruits have long been considered an excellent medicine for many ailments. Modern research only confirms the invaluable benefits of pomegranate.
Pomegranate healer
Pomegranate tree (or pomegranate tree) is a shrub or small tree common in Central Asia and Transcaucasia. The fruits of the tree are pomegranates - large berries with a diameter of up to 20 centimeters.
Pomegranate is not only a tasty, but also a very useful berry. Pomegranate fruits have long been widely used in medicine. Moreover, all the constituent parts of the fruit and tree were used as medicines: seeds, peel, skin that separates the fruit into compartments, as well as tree bark. Pomegranate was used in the treatment of many ailments, from the common cold to kidney diseases.
To date, scientists have managed to unravel the secrets of this fruit. It is difficult to find a substitute for the content of useful substances in pomegranate. It is a real treasure of vitamins and trace elements. Pomegranate also contains a huge amount of antioxidants. Such a rich composition of pomegranate makes it extremely useful in the fight against many diseases.
Protection against cancer
It is noted that pomegranate juice contains three times more antioxidants than green tea and red wine. According to some studies, pomegranate juice is especially useful for breast and prostate cancer. The fruits of the pomegranate tree contain a special type of tannins - ellagitannins, which are able to restrain the growth of breast cancer or stop the malignant process altogether. The fact is that ellagitanin substances inhibit the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for the production of estrogen, a key hormone in the tumor process.
Normalization of blood pressure
Regular consumption of pomegranate thins the blood, which allows it to reach the heart muscle faster. In one study, it was demonstrated that daily consumption of at least 50 ml of pomegranate juice reduced systolic blood pressure by 5%.
Pomegranate is also very useful for the heart. Thus, it can be argued that the systematic use of pomegranate reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, heart attack and stroke. Pomegranate is especially useful for diabetics, as patients with high blood sugar are at increased risk of heart disease.
Joint protection
Pomegranate extract will protect your joints. This is due to the fact that the components that make up the pomegranate inhibit the activity of an enzyme that has a destructive effect on cartilage tissue. Pomegranate helps healthy people maintain healthy joints for a long time, and people suffering from polyarthritis should eat this berry as often as possible. In addition, pomegranate has a weak anti-inflammatory effect, which is also important for arthritis.
Pomegranate as an anthelmintic
Pomegranate bark contains an alkaloid and its derivatives (isopelterine and methylisopelterine). These substances are powerful anthelmintic agents. To prepare such medicines, it is necessary to soak crushed pomegranate bark (about 50 grams) in 400 ml of cold water for 6 hours. Then boil over low heat until half of the liquid evaporates. Allow the decoction to cool, then strain and drink for an hour in small sips. After an hour, it is recommended to take laxatives, and after 4-5 hours to do an enema.
Pomegranate as an immunostimulant
Eat pomegranates in autumn and winter! This will be an excellent prevention of colds. After all, these fruits contain a large amount of vitamin C, which helps fight viruses. For preventive purposes, it is recommended to use half a pomegranate a day. And during the illness, you can drink pomegranate juice. It copes well with fever and quenches thirst.
Be vigilant
Despite the enormous benefits of pomegranate for our health, nevertheless, in some cases, the use of this berry is undesirable. For example, pomegranate is contraindicated in stomach and duodenal ulcers.
The composition of this fruit includes various organic acids, which negatively affects the condition of tooth enamel. To protect your teeth from the destructive action of acids, before eating a pomegranate, it is recommended to eat some hard cheese, which will cover the teeth with a fatty layer.
Also, keep in mind that pomegranate is an exotic berry, so there is a risk of food intolerance.
