Low-carbohydrate, low-calorie, purifying, fast ... all sorts of diets promise us to quickly achieve the desired weight loss. But is this possible?

Low-carbohydrate, low-calorie, purifying, fast ... all sorts of diets promise us to quickly achieve the desired weight loss. But is this possible?

1. Let's start with the initial weight and body mass index ...

Therefore, whether a diet will work or not with us is important what is our initial weight and what weight loss we aim for. Losing a lot of weight is actually possible, but only when there are tens above the norm. In this case, a diet could work quickly, which will necessarily require control of the whole process by a nutritionist and a doctor. If you want to lose 5 kg and you are in the BMI norm, then no drastic diet could give the desired effect, especially permanently, even more so without harming your health.
Last year, the British Dietary Society alerted the public to the dangerous effects of some popular diets, such as Ducan's. With these food models it is not possible to achieve a weight loss effect for a long time. There is also no scientific evidence that they work in the way described by those who promote them.

2. "Stupid diets"

Most of these diets promise results in the short term and, perhaps, weight loss will actually be achieved within these limits. But their effect will stop there. We will be unpleasantly surprised if we expect to achieve proportional weight loss by continuing the diet.

  1. Many of these diets, especially the restrictive ones, drastically reduce the amount of caloric intake . However, there is a norm, in violation of which, the body begins to work against itself, that is, to break down its own tissues, not fat, but vital. In the long run, these diets severely impair our immunity, which can lead to the onset of an underlying disease, a tendency to deficits and the development of chronic disease processes. Know the caloric intake for the day should not fall below 1500 kcal depending on gender, height, age and the percentage of major tissues in the body. Everyone has their own individual minimum that they must provide!
  2. There are diets that exclude the consumption of certain foods - meat or dairy products, carbohydrates or fats. Cutting the menu with any food group means a deficit in the provision of certain useful substances for the body and the functioning of its organs. There are specific vitamins and minerals that are only found in a given group.
  3. Diets like Atkins's almost forbid the consumption of carbohydrates . But carbohydrates are a major source of energy. At the same time, however, these "regimes" burden the body with fat and protein, which can only make you feel sick. With low carbohydrate intake, the following bad side effects such as bad breath, headache and constipation are also observed. They certainly increase the level of total and bad cholesterol and put you at heart risk.
  4. "Detoxifying" or cleansing diets are created with the idea of reducing and clearing the body of toxins, avoiding the consumption of certain products and concentrating on others. However, scientists are skeptical. And how else, since no research has documented their effect to "cleanse" harmful substances from our body. These diets usually weaken, as they also focus on greatly reduced calorie intake and limited choice of products. Dairy products, pasta are usually avoided. They are a kind of starvation ...
  5. The "magic" cabbage soup, diets according to blood type and others ... There are diets that emphasize the consumption of only or mainly one product, raw foods, a third of the diet according to blood group ... Only if these regimens acted obesity there would hardly be. It is not possible for a natural product to have the properties of a pill that has not been created even by a group of highly qualified researchers ... It is possible for them to get some weight reduction in a certain short time, but the same effect for a longer time would could be achieved with a good culture of nutrition.
