The Harms Of Energy Drinks

Although some local experts claim that there are no harmful foods and drinks, the harmful effects of some products are undeniable.

Although some local experts claim that there are no harmful foods and drinks, the harmful effects of some products on the body for world experts are indisputable. An example of this is energy drinks , the main consumers of which are adolescents and young people.

It is no coincidence that the lack of regulation restricting adolescents' access to a wide range of energy-boosting goods worries healthcare professionals, health authorities and parents. The reason for this is mainly the high content of sugars, caffeine and taurine , which increase endurance in an unnatural way and therefore damage the entire human endocrine system. But how exactly do they harm us?

1. The risk of heart attack increases

Energy drinks can significantly increase the risk of myocardial infarction . They have been found to cause an increase in blood viscosity , which predisposes to increased clotting and the risk of vascular accident.

Therefore, the drink is banned in countries such as Norway and Denmark due to side effects described on the box. However, sales of 3.5 million boxes were registered in a total of 143 countries.

2. Hypertension from an early age

Caffeine can cause a rise in blood pressure levels , speed up the heart rate and lead to other heart and neurological problems. Data from the national database of toxicology centers in the United States show that for the period between October 2010 and September 2013 there were 5,156 cases of exactly these effects of energy drinks. 40% of them are children who inadvertently had access to these drinks.

Scientists are pushing for better labeling to indicate the risks that these goods pose. On the other hand, parents should take care to keep them out of the reach of children to avoid the possibility of children reaching out to them.

3. Sick teeth

Consumption of energy drinks has a detrimental effect on dental health , as high levels of acidity in drinks cause erosion of tooth enamel

Damage to tooth enamel is irreversible, and without the protection of enamel, teeth become hypersensitive, prone to decay and caries. In addition, people should wait at least an hour to brush their teeth after consuming sports and energy drinks. Otherwise, the acid contained in them can spread on the surfaces of the teeth, which increases the erosive effect, scientists say.

4. Increased anxiety

Energy drinks can cause an increased feeling of anxiety and stress. Some of them were actually found to contain more caffeine than was actually indicated on their labels. It is known that large amounts of caffeine cause panic and chronic stress , which can develop into serious mental problems, experts warn.

5. Diabetes

Due to the high sugar content, these products increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes . Their consumption changes the body's sensitivity to the hormone insulin , produced by a group of cells in the pancreas. This loses the body's ability to regulate blood sugar levels within healthy limits.
