Tomatoes have many useful properties because they contain a number of vitamins, minerals and other substances necessary for the body. In addition, they are rich in malic, tartaric and citric acids. The benefits of the tomato are greater when it is processed rather than raw. It contains a powerful antioxidant called lycopene. It has anti-cancer effects, preventing DNA mutation and cancer cell division. In combination with vegetable fats, this vegetable is better absorbed by the stomach. Lycopene is the cause of the bright red color of tomatoes.
Fructose and glucose are part of the composition of tomatoes. It also contains mineral salts: magnesium, iodine, zinc, sodium, iron, manganese and a combination of vitamins A, B2, B6, K, PP, E and others.
Tomatoes regulate the nervous system and are excellent antidepressants. Due to the presence of serotonin, they improve mood. They also contain phytoncides that have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. The skin of tomatoes stimulates the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract. Their seeds, in turn, contain substances that dilute the blood and thus prevent the development of thrombosis. The more ripe the tomatoes, the more vitamins and useful properties in them. Tomato is low in calories, so it can be included in the diet, of course, in the absence of contraindications. Thanks to its rich mineral and vitamin composition, it is an excellent helper in the fight against excess weight. Potassium salts help to lose weight, as they reduce the body's ability to retain water.
Tomato salad and their juice have a good effect on the cardiovascular system. In fresh form or after heat treatment, they are a valuable remedy for atherosclerosis.
Vitamin deficiency affects the skin, nails, hair and appearance. For her, a diet fortified with vitamins A, B1, B2, C, salts of phosphate, iron and potassium is important. All this is contained in fresh tomatoes.
This vegetable is used to treat wounds and burns, to increase male potency, in cosmetics.
