Tracheitis is an inflammatory process that takes place in the trachea. Refers to diseases of the upper respiratory tract, although the trachea is classified as lower. Often the problem goes hand in hand with laryngitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis and bronchitis.

Inflammation can be infectious, allergic and mixed. According to the course differs acute and chronic.

Useful foods for tracheitis

Proper nutrition can alleviate the course of inflammation and speed healing. To help the body fight the disease, it is necessary to increase the intake of protein (especially animal) and reduce the consumption of carbohydrates (they create a good microflora for the development and reproduction of bacteria).

Food should be high in calories, rich in vitamins.

The dishes should be boiled or steamed.

The daily amount of fluids should reach 2.5 liters, and they include soups, teas, compotes and juices.

In tracheitis can be eaten:
  • wheat rusks;
  • soups (cooked with vegetable or non-greasy broth);
  • porridge (oat, rice, wheat);
  • boiled fish;
  • lean meats;
  • all low-fat yogurt products without additives;
  • eggs (soft-boiled or in the form of an omelet);
  • fresh fruits and vegetables.
Useful drinks:
  • fresh fruit and vegetable juices;
  • compotes;
  • decoctions of rose hips, chamomile;
  • green tea (black is not recommended).

Dangerous and harmful foods in tracheitis:

  • freshly baked bread and bakery products;
  • fatty, concentrated broths and soups thereof;
  • fried dishes;
  • pasta, barley;
  • alcohol;
  • sweet carbonated drinks;
  • strong tea, coffee;
  • legumes, turnips, cabbage;
  • any food containing trans fats, additives and preservatives with code E;
  • whole milk, kefir, cream;
  • products allergens.

Salt consumption should be limited.

The patient should adhere to a similar diet for about 1-2 weeks, depending on the duration of the disease. The transition to a normal diet should be smooth.
