Useful Foods For Arthritis

Maintaining a normal weight and diet work to improve the symptoms of some types of arthritis. It is known that some nutrients predispose or suppress inflammatory processes.

Foods that improve the general symptoms of arthritis can be considered in several groups:


 

  •  Fruits high in vitamin C : strawberries, kiwis, peaches, mangoes, melons, papayas and apples.

 

  • Vegetables high in beta-carotene and vitamin C: cabbage, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach, Brussels sprouts, peppers.

 

  • Fish - provides omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. The most useful species are: salmon, tuna, mackerel, anchovies, herring, trout.

 

  • Nuts - also rich in fatty acids and vitamin E : walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, sunflower, flax and pumpkin seeds.

 

  • Lentils, brown rice and wholemeal black bread.

 

  • Because of their anti-inflammatory action: turmeric, ginger, garlic and apples.



Building a menu rich in these fruits is especially suitable for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and gout.
 

 

In gout, it is advisable to avoid protein-rich foods and purines, such as legumes, meat, dairy products, as well as tomatoes, coffee, tea, chocolate, fried foods, products with preservatives and additives.
