We all know that lemon is an excellent means of weight loss , and the secret of the small sour fruit is that it has a beneficial effect on the digestive tract.

Lemons contain 7-8% citric acid, which other fruits cannot boast of. The substance is said to interact with other enzymes and acids, stimulating digestion and secretion of gastric juices. Due to its high acidity, even a small slice of lemon is able to have a beneficial effect on the process of food processing and reduce the risk of high blood sugar.

The pectin in the peel of the citrus has a fibrous structure, in the stomach it turns into a tough gel that surrounds the walls of the intestine, preventing the body from absorbing sugar too quickly.

Experts believe that it is not necessary to pay too much attention to the amount of food consumed (but not to overeat) and the calories in it, if you include in your menu a few tablespoons of lemon juice  or a little of the soft part of the fruit.

The juice should be taken on an empty stomach and the water with which it is diluted should be at room temperature, in no case be cold. After drinking the drink, the mouth is rinsed with a weak soda solution to neutralize the effect of citric acid on tooth enamel. Another option is to drink the juice through a straw.

During the lemon diet you can eat everything in moderation and drink lemon juice every day as follows:

1 day - juice of 1 lemon and 1 glass of water (drink on an empty stomach);

Day 2 - juice of 2 lemons and 2 glasses of water;

Day 3 - juice of 3 lemons and 3 glasses of water;

Day 4 - juice of 4 lemons and 4 glasses of water;

Day 5 - juice of 5 lemons and 5 glasses of water;

Day 6 - juice of 6 lemons and 6 glasses of water;

Day 7 - squeeze the juice of 3 lemons and pour it into a three-liter jar of water, put a spoonful of honey and drink the drink throughout the day;

Day 8 - juice of 6 lemons and 6 glasses of water;

Day 9 - juice of 5 lemons and 5 glasses of water;

Day 10 - juice of 4 lemons and 4 glasses of water;

Day 11 - juice of 3 lemons and 3 glasses of water;

Day 12 - juice of 2 lemons and 2 glasses of water;

Day 13 - juice of 1 lemon and 1 glass of water;

Day 14 - squeeze the juice of 3 lemons and pour it into a three-liter jar of water, put a spoonful of honey and drink the drink throughout the day.

Basic principles of the lemon diet :

  • Drink the juice in the morning with warm water. Citric acid will become a good stimulant of the digestive system every day, and water will help remove excess substances from the body, so drink 6-8 glasses a day;
  • Wine can be drunk, but not more than a glass. As for coffee and tea, they should be avoided, as well as carbonated drinks and juices that are not natural.
  • Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. They are low in calories and rich in vitamins and nutrients that strengthen the immune system, maintain hormonal balance, calm the nervous system and contribute to the removal of toxins and fats from the body.
  • Maintain your blood sugar level. Irritability, distraction, fatigue and headaches are signs of a disturbed glucose balance in the body. If sugar is high, thanks to the hormone insulin, it accumulates in the cells, leading to the formation of fat deposits.
  • It is enough to spray the prepared food with lemon juice and the level of absorbed sugar will be reduced by 30%. Add the citrus peel to salads and soups, and spray the juice on the fish and chicken.
  • Eat protein every day because it helps maintain blood sugar levels by slowing down the absorption of fats and carbohydrates.
  • Give up products with high sugar content in them: white bread, rice, potatoes, corn bran. At the same time, the natural sugar in the fruit can adversely affect the body, so it is best to consume them along with nuts and seeds. Avoid sweeteners as well.
  • Remember that unsaturated fatty acids are good for the body and are needed for weight loss. They slow down the flow of carbohydrates in the blood and thus contribute to low levels of sugar and insulin in the body.
  • Avoid including saturated fats in your diet. They are contained in red meat, biscuits, pastries. These products are low in nutrients, with the absorption of fat there is a risk of weight gain.
  • Consume more unprocessed raw products such as legumes, which are rich in fiber. Such foods allow to slow down the process of conversion of carbohydrates into glucose.
  • Eat slowly and chew food well. Chewing itself relaxes the muscles in the lower abdomen and sends a nerve signal that activates digestive processes. Eat at a certain time and do not continue until you feel full, because it may appear later. It is best to wait 20 minutes to make sure you have eaten.
  • Don't be nervous! Even the slightest emotional tension and stress can affect the work of the intestines and food to remain undigested.
