6 Water-rich Foods

Some of the foods that are rich in water and hydrate the body are: lettuce, celery, cabbage, strawberries and more.

Insufficient water intake leads to dehydration , which can cause fatigue, headaches, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, skin problems, muscle spasms and more. Experts recommend taking enough water a day. It can also be obtained through some foods that contain large amounts of water. These foods include:

 

1. Lettuce


The water content in lettuce is 96%. Leafy vegetables also provide the body with fiber and 5% of the daily dose of folic acid. Lettuce is also rich in vitamins A and K, which are important for maintaining healthy bones and a good immune system.

2. Whole

Celery contains approximately 95% water. It is a very healthy and hydrating food. Due to its high water content and the few calories it contains, celery is an ideal food for weight loss. It also contains vitamin K and potassium, which protect against cardiovascular and bone diseases such as osteoporosis .

3. Cabbage

The next very useful and hydrating vegetable is cabbage. It contains 92% water. Cabbage is low in calories, but high in fiber and nutrients. It is rich in vitamin C, K, folic acid. It also contains glucosinolates , antioxidants that protect the body against certain cancers, such as lung cancer. Sauerkraut is also very rich in water and is good for good digestion.

4. Berries

The water content in strawberries is 91%. Because they contain a lot of water, they are ideal for keeping the body hydrated. Strawberries also provide plenty of fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C, folate and manganese. Regular consumption reduces inflammation in the body, which can cause heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's and even cancer.

5. Skim milk

Skimmed milk contains approximately 91% water. It also consists of a significant amount of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, B12, riboflavin, calcium, phosphorus and potassium. Milk helps to fully hydrate the body after strenuous exercise. This property is due to the electrolytes and proteins in milk, which help reduce the loss of body fluids.

6. Oranges

The water content in oranges is 88%. One orange contains almost half a glass of water, providing extra nutrients. These include fiber, potassium and vitamin C, which boost the immune system and improve heart health. Oranges are also rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids , which help prevent cell damage by reducing inflammation.
