Smelt - 700 grams; Bulb - 1 pc.; Carrots - 1 pc.; Garlic - 2-3 cloves; Vegetable oil - 5 tbsp. l.; Flour - 5 tbsp. l.; Tomato paste - 3 tbsp. l.; Sugar - 1 tsp; Salt and spices - to taste.

 

Wash the fish, clean and dry a little with paper towels. Combine flour with salt and spices, mix. Roll the smelt on all sides in breadcrumbs and place in a frying pan with hot oil. Fry on both sides until golden brown.

 

Then transfer the fish to a saucepan or deep frying pan with high sides. In the pan where the fish was fried, add a little oil and send chopped onions, garlic and grated carrots there. Fry for 5 minutes over medium heat. Add tomato paste, sugar, salt and your favorite aromatic spices, pour in a little boiling water.
