Among the most insidious of these are cancer and cirrhosis of the liver .

The analysis shows that 7.6 percent of deaths in men and 4 percent of those in women are directly related to excessive consumption of high-grade beverages.

They have been shown to shorten life and lower its quality.

The World Health Organization is particularly concerned about the growing consumption of alcohol by the fairer sex and children.
