Are Canned Foods Toxic?

Canned food often contains various toxic chemicals, such as bisphenol A, which can endanger our health.

How many canned foods do you consume? A new study conducted in collaboration between six health NGOs suggests that the materials from which cans are made can be highly toxic .

Manufacturers often do not report the entire composition of the can, which may indicate precisely the use of toxic materials. A particularly problematic chemical, bisphenol A, has been found in research .

What is bisphenol A

Bisphenol A is a hazardous industrial chemical . A few years ago, a ban was introduced on its use in the production of baby bottles and other products for children.

The chemical can be transferred from the can itself to the food and thus be ingested by humans.

There is strong evidence that bisphenol can seriously affect people's health , and long-term use can lead to problems in child development, diabetes, cancer, erectile dysfunction and many other diseases.

The new study looked at nearly 200 canned foods in the United States - different types of food, different traders and producers. Bisphenol A is present in almost all tested foods and canned foods.

More bad news

Unfortunately, the tests reveal even more alarming findings. In cans, in which no detection of bisphenol A, found other hazardous chemicals .

These are acrylic resins that contain styrene - a chemical that is associated with the development of cancer and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) - another carcinogenic chemical.

Let's make a safe choice

Experts advise to be well informed before making your choice.

And with the slightest doubt about the composition of the packaging or the food we buy, it is good to just avoid it.

In any case, fresh food is the best substitute for canned and processed foods.
