An important object of research in nutrition is the essential components that make up food products. These are elements that the human body cannot produce on its own and must be obtained from food. At the same time, insufficient intake of essential substances (for example, zinc, selenium, choline, etc.) can lead to the development of serious diseases.
Thus, nutrition is the science of human nutrition. It is located at the intersection of several related sciences, such as medicine, biology, chemistry, food hygiene and pharmacognosy.
The main object of study of nutrition is the biochemical composition and quality of food, as well as the processes associated with food processing. The question is being investigated, which until recently was not considered by other sciences: how the cells of the body absorb certain substances that enter it with food. The process of digestion is a complex chain of biochemical reactions that are triggered when food enters the gastrointestinal tract. It is nutritionists who study what micro- and macronutrients food breaks down into, how these components are absorbed by the body and why they are needed.
Nutritionists urge people to monitor the quality of their diet, as this is the key to health and well-being. It is from food that we get energy and building components for body tissues.
