Food coloring, which is a mixture of azo dyes and coal tar. E 155 dissolves well in water. It has a brown color, restores the lost color of the product due to processing.

The additive is banned for use in the United States, Belgium, France, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, Russia.

Application

E 155 is widely used in the food industry. This brown colorant is often added to various semi-finished products, chocolate confectionery (cakes, biscuits) and some types of candy.

Impact on humans

All products containing brown colorant NT are not recommended for consumption by children. The supplement is harmful and dangerous for people sensitive to prostaglandins (especially aspirin) and for patients with bronchial asthma. E 155 is toxic to the kidneys.

The allowable daily dose of E 155 is 1.5 milligrams per kilogram body weight.
