Fish Improves Memory By 15%

According to scientists, omega-3 fatty acids DHA are key to preventing Alzheimer's disease.

Consumption of fish is important for maintaining optimal brain health and preventing dementia, a new study shows.
 
Fatty acids found in fish and seafood help improve memory by 15% , scientists say. 
 
176 healthy adults took supplements containing omega-3 fatty acids DHA for a 6-month period. They are found in foods such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, trout, king prawns and mussels .
 
During this period, participants' memory and cognitive functions were assessed and compared with those of the placebo group.
 
At the end of the study, memory and working memory speed showed significant improvements .
 
According to scientists, DHA is key to preventing Alzheimer's disease .
 
Omega-3s can also be obtained through food. Salmon is the species that has the highest acid content. Followed by anchovies, palps and herring, as well as seafood - shrimp, crabs, mussels and oysters. 
 
One serving of salmon, about 90 g, provides nearly 2 g of omega-3.
