Couscous is wheat groats prepared in a special way. First, the wheat is roughly ground to the state of semolina, then moistened, formed into balls and dried. Therefore, couscous in its purest form is not a cereal, but a paste. The dish itself, prepared from this billet, is also called cuckus.
Most often, couscous is cooked with meat, vegetables, fish, and seafood. Sometimes couscous is prepared sweet. Cooking couscous is very easy. Due to the fact that it cooks very quickly, the dish itself can be served in 15-20 minutes.
Couscous, prepared industrially, is most often brewed with boiling water and seasoned with olive oil.
Recipes with couscous
Step 1
For work, we need couscous - 1 cup, water - 2 cups, salt - 1 tsp, olive oil - 1 tbsp. l., pan, bowl, fork, cling film.
Step 2
Combine couscous, olive oil and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
Step 3
Bring water to a boil. Pour 1/3 of the boiling water into the couscous. Mix.
Step 4
Cover with cling film and leave for 5 minutes. Keep the rest of the water on fire at all times.
Step 5
After 5 minutes, pour another third of boiling water into the couscous and mix. Cover with foil for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, pour in the rest of the water, mix and leave under the film for 5 minutes. Loosen with a fork.
Step 6
Couscous is ready.
