How To Cook Puri - Indian Fried Bread / Puri, Poori / - Recipe

Required products :

  • 2 teaspoons wholemeal flour
  • 2 tablespoons + 1/2 teaspoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 tea cup of water or more until stiff
  • deep frying oil

Method of preparation :

  • Mix the flour, salt and 2 tablespoons of oil in a medium bowl. Stir.
  • Slowly add the water and knead a firm but smooth and elastic dough.
  • Knead for 5-7 minutes, form a ball and smear it with 1/2 teaspoon of oil.
  • Divide the dough into 10-12 equal parts and knead each of them in the palms until smooth.
  • Take a ball of dough, dip its end in oil and roll it into a circle with a diameter of 10-12 centimeters. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  • Heat oil to a depth of about 6-7 centimeters in a pan over high heat.
  • Put the first loaf and start pouring hot oil over it using a spoon. It will start to swell.
  • Press lightly with the spoon down for a few seconds and turn gently. Fry until golden brown on the other side.
  • Remove the Indian bread on kitchen paper to drain the fat. Repeat with the others.
  • Serve them hot and enjoy them.
