Joints are removable joints of bone encased in a joint capsule that contains synovial (lubricating) fluid. The joints are located where movement takes place. You understand that it is extremely important to keep them in good health. To do this, we must pay attention to our diet. So now we will look at which foods are good for the joints, which are harmful to them and why.

Healthy foods:

  • lean red meat, eggs, tongue - they are rich in iron;
  • green vegetables, apricots, raisins, dates, prunes, bran, buckwheat honey - all of them are sources of magnesium, which in turn is responsible for the health of the nerves serving the joints;
  • ice cream - only milk or butter - contains useful fats and calcium;
  • fish and seafood - they contain organic useful phosphorus needed by the joints;
  • milk, cottage cheese, cheese - are rich in organic calcium, which, unlike inorganic, does not accumulate in the form of stones, but is used to strengthen bones and maintain electrolyte balance in the cells of the body; (These products should not be combined with foods containing oxalic acid, for example - spinach, sorrel, rhubarb);
  • seaweed, cartilage - they contain a large amount of mucopolysaccharides, ensuring the normal functioning of the joints, similar to synovial fluid;
  • gelatin - like other products, has a gelling effect; can be added to sweet and savory dishes, juices, etc .;
  • fish liver, butter, egg yolk - the presence of vitamin D in these foods is important for the storage of calcium in the bones;
  • herring, olive oil - are sources of vitamin F, which has anti-inflammatory effect on the joints;
  • blackcurrants, rose hips, citrus - a reliable source of vitamin C, responsible for the nutrition of the joints.

General recommendations

  • To maintain the health of your joints, you will need to give up pickled vegetables.
  • Prepare meals in enameled dishes to preserve vitamins.
  • Fruit intended for winter consumption should be dried or frozen. This will store the vitamins in them.
  • When subjecting fruits and vegetables to heat treatment, keep it as short as possible - the reason is again the preservation of nutrients.

Harmful food for the joints

  • Products containing inorganic phosphates. Leaders among them are: carbonated drinks, leavening agents added to bread and pastries, most types of ice cream.
  • Marinated and smoked products - they contain many inorganic salts that irritate the joint capsule, causing inflammation and deformation of the joints.
  • Tea, chocolate, coffee, fatty pork, lentils, liver - these foods contain purines, which cause changes in the joint capsule. They are also a major cause of gout.
  • Turnip, sorrel, spinach - the large amount of oxalic acid in them irritates the periarticular nerves, disrupts the nutrition of the joints.
